Confidence is Key! So the saying goes. Sometimes we look for ways to unlock our children's self confidence, and Musical Theatre classes and Acting Classes are a great way to do just that. This week I've had a conversation with a lot of our students about their goals for this term; where a common theme is gaining more confidence. Gaining confidence in self is a discovery of feeling sure of their own abilities, qualities and ideas (collinsdictionary.com). At Border Show Business Academy we do this by encouraging students to take risks in a safe environment through engaging activities and group work. Students learn to express their individuality, build strong connections with their peers, and find an outlet for their creative energy. The benefits of Musical Theatre classes and Acting Classes can help unleash creativity and foster self-expression and social development.
In our performing arts classes, we foster a connection between creativity and confidence. As students grow in their creative abilities, they become more confident in their ability to express themselves, allowing them to break out of their shells and truly shine. As their confidence continues to build, so does their capacity for creative expression. This connection between creativity and confidence is something we believe is integral to building strong performers.
The importance of group dynamics in creative expression can’t be overstated. Group creativity is a powerful way to inspire and motivate each other to create and explore unique ideas, while building confidence and connections between participants. Musical theatre and acting classes are an excellent way to take advantage of this power, as students learn to collaborate and trust their peers. Through improvisation, scene work, singing, and dancing, the process of creativity is encouraged through the strength of the group. In classes, teachers often assign group roles that ensure everyone has an opportunity to contribute. They may ask some members to lead the discussion, share ideas, or help decide how to move forward with the project. This encourages students to take ownership of their ideas, while also teaching them how to listen and respond to others. It also reinforces the power of collaboration, as the group works together to craft a unique and innovative performance. Group dynamics are also beneficial in that they create an environment of safety and acceptance. Everyone has a chance to express themselves without fear of judgement or criticism, allowing for uninhibited exploration, which can lead to unexpected results. The collective energy of the group fosters an atmosphere of growth and learning, allowing students to push their boundaries and reach new heights in their creative pursuits.
Through this collaborative experience, students can discover and develop their artistic potential, while also having fun and developing life skills along the way. Go here if you would like to register in our classes.
